Before we get into the specifics of this amazing slow cooker hamburger soup, I want to give a little backstory on this recipe.
A Trip Down Hamburger Soup Memory Lane
When my oldest daughter Heather was little, I used to take her to a co-op preschool where the parents were involved in helping. Â Every year we would read the story “Stone Soup” by Ann McGovern to the kids and then make our own version of it to eat for lunch.
I loved that story and have thought about it throughout the years.  I was always amazed how just throwing a bunch of ingredients like vegetables and meat together could make such a yummy soup. At the preschool, we were all given an assignment of something to bring to throw into our “Stone Soup”, and it always turned out delicious. This is how our slow cooker hamburger soup came about.
Crockpot Hamburger Soup is Born!
Since then I have made several versions of that soup recipe, but I usually just call it crock pot Hamburger Soup. I love to just throw it all into the crock pot in the morning and then enjoy it for dinner that night. Â You could always make it fun for your little ones, and read them the story to go along with it. Â Of course we always added a stone, (a clean one) to the soup. Â It brings back fun memories of when my kids were little.

You could season it yourself with garlic/garlic powder, celery salt, oregano, basil, salt, pepper and anything else you wanted. 🙂 That’s what I do.
