Acorn Doughnuts

It is fun to spice up the holidays with treats that remind you of that time of year.  When I was growing up, my parents had a lot of scrub oak in their yard.  Needless to say they come with acorns!  Not just a few acorns, but buckets and buckets full!  Our job was to pick them up so they didn’t grow in the grass.  My mom would pay us a penny an acorn.  Well, after awhile we figured that was not the best deal for us!  I know now that we aren’t around any more, they miss their little acorn pickers!  These Acorn Doughnuts are super cute and a super delicious idea for a Thanksgiving treat. I don’t mind picking up these little acorns that’s for sure!   These little acorns are really easy to make and will make the holiday fun!

Ingredients
  • Brown Doughnut holes (I used pumpkin ones from Smiths)
  • peanut butter or chocolate frosting
  • toffee bits ( you can find these by the chocolate chips)
  • pretzels ( sticks work best)
Instructions
  1. Frost the top of each doughnut hole with either peanut butter or chocolate frosting (I personally think the peanut butter tastes better).
  2. Stick the toffee crumbles to the peanut butter so that is evenly covered all around.
  3. Break a pretzel stick in half and stick it in the top of the doughnut for the stem of the acorn.
  4. And there it is....You have some adorable little doughnut acorns. Have fun with this one!
