Cabbage Au Gratin

Ingredients
- 5 cups cooked cabbage (1 large head)
- 6 Tbs. butter
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 cups milk
- 3 Tbs. flour
- ½ tsp. pepper
- ½ cup bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
Instructions
- Cut cabbage into 2-3 inch chunks.
- Cook cut cabbage in boiling water until just barely soft.
- Place in a greased casserole dish.
- Make the white sauce by melting 3 Tbs. butter in a pan and making a rue with the flour. (Save the other half of butter for the topping)
- Gradually add milk, stirring continually.
- Add salt and pepper.
- Pour the white sauce over the cabbage.
- Melt remaining butter and mix with bread or cracker crumbs.
- Spread the crumb mixture over the top of the cabbage.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes.

My husband does not like cabbage, not even a little bit. I had a cabbage from a bountiful basket that I did not want to go to waste so I made this in hopes he would not even know what he was eating. It was delicious!! He said it tasted like cauliflower and ate 2 helpings at dinner. He said this is the only way he will ever eat cabbage. Thanks for a great recipe!
