Of course, with the addition of nuts, craisins and bacon, this turned out to be absolutely delicious! Â I wasn’t sure how the family was going to react to it, but after dinner was over, they kept picking at. Â That is always a good sign!
Since then, this crunchy salad recipe really has become a family favorite. Both my daughters have introduced it to their husbands and they love it! It’s amazing how adding the right ingredients can complement the pea salad and make it a memorable, delightful experience.
This pea salad recipe comes from family.go.com website.  It’s been an instant classic, and the cold peas help you feel like you’re eating a really healthy salad. 🙂 The next time I make this though, I think I will add some chopped cauliflower to add a little more color! A crunchy pea salad with cauliflower sounds like something right down my lane!

Hi, This looks super yummy and I can’t wait to try it. Question, did you find that 1 lb. of bacon was too much?
Sugar n' Spicegals says
Well, not for us! We love bacon! You could adjust it to however much you like, but we always like more. Thanks for asking!!
darrdarr says
there is 1/2 cup of craisins then it calls for 1 cup of craisins.
Was there something else in one of the craising? 1/2 cup of something or 1 cup of something besides craisins.
Thanks
Darr

I think it’s a typo!!! I will edit it. Thank you for catching that. It should be 1 cup craisins. Thanks for stopping by!!!

I played around with this salad a bit. I used the full amount of peas and dressing, but halved the rest of the ingredients. I also threw in some sunflower seeds and grated cheddar cheese. I looked at the original recipe at family.go.com and used their idea of using balsamic vinegar. I didn’t have any peanuts, but would like to try it again with them because I think that would take it over top. As it was, I really enjoyed this salad. It’s like a fun twist on traditional broccoli salad. Thanks for the great recipe!

This sounds like it would also be good with edamame…….think i’m going to try that instead of the peas. I’m not a pea fan but it looks delicious!
Reba Mitchell says
I likeedamane also better than peas.

I get Maggie Seasoning by the ethnic/international foods. It is a dutch liquid like soy sauce but has a unique flavor.

I bet this would also be good if you used other nuts, such as walnuts or pecans. Also chopped Broccoli would be good along with some type of shredded cheese. The additional or substitute ingredients are actually unlimited. I can’t wait to try this, I love using Peas in salads.

In Florida, Publix carries Maggi seasoning. Very unique flavor.

Has anyone tried replacing the mayonnaise with yogurt or greek yogurt?
Ann says
I was wondering what kind of vinegar? Thank you!

We always put small squares of cheese in it. I see you’ve decided to try grated cheese. And, sometimes we had finely chopped sweet pickles.
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
I love the idea of the squares of cheese! We’ll have to try it that way next time
