Oh my, how I love this Cranberry jello! I do believe this is one of my favorite jello salads at Thanksgiving time! I have tried many different cranberry jello recipes, but this one is my all time favorite.
Cranberry Jello and Whip Cream
This cranberry jello salad with cool whip recipe has become a standard every year at Thanksgiving but it doesn’t mean that you have to wait until November to start enjoying it. It goes good with any party or big gathering you might have at your home. My kids don’t necessarily love cranberries, but when I put it together in a jello salad they are all for it.
I would definitely double this cranberry jello salad recipe if you are planning on a crowd for your holiday dinners. You definitely will want to make sure you have leftovers of this jello recipe than not enough.
This makes the perfect jello salad to serve with all your turkey and trimmings. However, we like to eat it all year long because it is so so good!

When I add the can of crushed pineapple, do I also include the juice? Or do I strain the juice and only do the crushed pineapple?
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi Camille,
I always add in the juice. It tends to give the jello more flavor when I don’t drain the pineapple. I’ll go fix the recipe box to make sure that is more clear. Hope it turns out tasting amazing. Thanks so much for commenting 🙂
Lucie says
Just add the pineapple, the juice will make it more runny,
Heather Gines says
Yes! Thank you for bringing this up. I made the recipe the other day and realized that we had made a typo. Mine turned out too runny too (still tasted amazing though), so I will change the recipe to take out the pineapple juice. Appreciate you bringing this to our attention!
Pam says
Drain the pineapple juice into a measuring cup and use the juice to replace some of the water in the recipe.
Bev Meyer says
Took away my comment!! I usually do that and make use of the juice. Why aste all that good flavor?!
Joey says
Just add half a pack of unflavored gelatin. I’ve been doing it for years. It sets up great.
Betty Burger says
Use the pineapple juice instead of the cold water
Amy says
Hi! This looks so yummy! What kind of whipped cream do you recommend? Could you use cool whip or whipped cream from a can? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi Amy,
I just went and fixed the recipe. I realized for the topping that I had put whipped cream as one of the ingredients for the topping, when what I really meant was heavy whipping cream. Hopefully this gets to you before you make the recipe or go to the store 🙂
Susie says
Cool whip worked really well. Yum
Deb says
What kind of whipped cream ??
Susie says
I used a whole container of cool whip and it was so good.
Steve Wade says
Is this the kind of jello recipe that a pretzel crust work well for?
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi Steve,
I would do the cream cheese layer over the pretzels and then the jello on top. We have a pretzel jello salad link here that you can follow as well. https://sugar-n-spicegals.com/2016/08/raspberry-pretzel-salad.html
MJ says
What is whipping cream and where do you find it in the store
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi MJ,
It’s by the milk. It comes in pint and quart sizes. Hopefully you can find it 🙂
Anna says
Your recipe does not say to add the cranberry jello. Do you add it with the raspberry jello and 1 cup of water?
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi Anna,
Sorry this recipe was confusing. You don’t add any cranberry jello packets, just the raspberry jello and then the cranberry sauce will make it have the cranberry flavor. Hopefully this helps 🙂
Dorothy Hassay says
I saved this a couple years ago and was just reading over it for this Thanksgiving. Any time I have mixed gelatin AND pineapple together the mixture does NOT gel .!! Do you think yours works because it is “Jello” ??
Thank you, it sounds so delicious.
Donna says
I use the juice. Drain it and add juce as part of the water and use less water. More flavor.

Hello All,
I used the whole can of crushed pineapple, with the juice. I had my doubts last night as it sloshed into the fridg, but this morning it was nice and firm. Also, I used whip cream instead of heavy whipping cream as that was what I had on hand. The topping also turned out just fine. I did very amounts of powdered sugar and Cool Whip so that it was the consistency that I thought would hold up. I also added a couple teaspoons of pineapple juice to the topping. Lastly I did throw some pecan pieces that I candied on the stove top (minus cinnamon) on the top.

This is the recipe my grandma used to make for us at Thanksgiving & Chrostmas! I LOVED her topping! I really loved the whole salad. As an adult, I fell in love with baking but cooking has always held a special place in my heart as well. I’ve asked for the recipe time & time again, all to no avail. Why is that some feel the need to take “secret” recipes to the literal grave? Share the love grannie! Thank you for sharing your love. I’m delighted to find this recipe after so many years. This is one time I’m thankful for the internet & strangers <3
