Being a teacher is so much fun, but can also be mind boggling if I try to be too creative on my own. Thank goodness for the internet and all of it’s incredible tools. As each holiday rolls around, I look for cute and simple ideas on how to bring the different holidays into my classroom. This next week I am going to teach my kiddos about the pilgrims, and I thought it would be fun to let them make a small treat after the lesson. I didn’t want something that would be too time consuming with the time crunch I already have to stay on schedule. These little pilgrim cookie hats are going to be the perfect treat, and a fun way to get my students excited about Thanksgiving. For those moms at home this would also be a fun and easy way to get your kids into the holiday spirit!
- Pilgrim Hat Treats
- 1 package Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies
- 1 container of Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 package of mini Reeses
- 1 package of Rips sour strips (cut into ¼ in squares)
- Yellow food coloring
- In a bowl mix ½ of the container of frosting with 5 drops of food coloring.
- Take a dab of frosting and spread it on the middle of the cookie.
- (We did half on the chocolate side, and half on the stripe side to mix things up),
- Place a peanut butter cup upside down on top of the frosting
- Take ¼ inch square of the rips and use as the buckle for the hat.
