Many years ago my neighbor brought my family a version of this Creamy Ranch Chicken dish when I had been sick with a bad flu. I fell in love with it and so did my family. It’s now become a staple on our dinner recipe calendar and my kids couldn’t be happier.
The crock pot version of this Creamy Ranch Chicken just makes the chicken melt in your mouth. I love to serve this over rice or mashed potatoes with a big spoonful of the creamy sauce on top! Sooooo delicious!!

Can you use cream of chicken and cream of mushroom?
Shannon says
I always do one can cream of chicken and one can cream of mushroom and I purée them together in my bullet so my picky eater hubby can’t see the mushrooms. And sometimes I use cream cheese and sometimes sour cream. If I don’t have season salt I use Montreal steak seasoning. We LOVE this recipe at our house!

Do I have to add a can of water to the cream of chicken?

I made this last night and it was very good. I added some chicken broth at the end to thin the sauce a little & used spicy ranch dressing mix. I cooked it all day. Great recipe!

I LOVE this recipe, one of my favorites! Have made it several times.
But- I’m single and it makes a lot….Can it be frozen?
Heather Gines says
I’ve never tried freezing this, but I would think that this recipe would freeze well. I’d just make sure it is in a sealed container or bag and then when you want to eat it I would just warm it up on the stove in a pot over low-medium heat. You should try it and see how it goes…I’m curious to know. So glad you like this…it’s one of our favorites too!

Can Greek Yogurt be subbed for sour cream?
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
I’m sure Greek yogurt would be an ok substitute! I know Insubstitute out the sour cream for Greek yogurt in lots of my recipes all the time! Let us know how it turns out 🙂
Kate says
Just as a follow up- YES, I have tried freezing it, and it tastes just as good. 🙂
Love this – it’s the crock pot meal I make the most! I layer baby red potatoes in the bottom and the rest on top, cook it up, serve with a veggie, and sit back and bask in the compliments!

I made this last night. My husband said it’s delicious but the only request is that I add more meat. I mixed everything in a bowl, then put it in the crock pot. I also used 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts (partly frozen) and had it on low for 6 hours. Turned out great! I’m wondering if I can double the meat (add 12 thighs) and not double the liquid or will I have to double the liquid too?m my son wants me to make it again.
Sugar n' Spice Gals says
Hi Kara,
Glad you liked them. You definitely could add more meat, but I wouldn’t double the liquid if you’re wanting more meat because then it’d still be the same ratio of meat to sauce. Let us know how it turns out with more meat 🙂

Can you add any veggies like peas or broccoli?
Valerie says
Has anyone tried this in an Instant Pot? What would be the settings/conversions or would I just need to do the pot inside a pot method?
Gloria Harvley says
I found this recipe on Pinterest while looking for dinner ideas. Can I just say that this was so yummy????? I used one can of cream of chicken and one can of cream of mushroom. I also just poured hidden valley ranch dressing into the crock pot since I didn’t have one of the packets. We paired it with plain rice and it was a huge hit, even with the picky eaters. I’m adding this into my meal plan rotations and can’t wait to try more of these super yummy recipes!
